P#70c (Pick Number 70c).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLady Lavery banknotes were first issued in 1928 and circulated until they were replaced by the B Series notes starting in 1976. The figure of Lady Lavery was created to symbolize the Irish state, being adapted from a portrait of the Irishwoman Lady Hazel Lavery. Lady Lavery was prominently portrayed on the A Series of banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Ireland, and were replaced with B Series banknotes, with the 1 Pound note featuring Queen Maeb and being written entirely in Gaelic, starting in 1976. The first issue of these B Series notes was dated June 10th, 1977 (10.06.77). \u003cspan\u003eAlthough this new series featured a £100 note, this note was never put into circulation.
