The company created the token to associate its products with the new Boy Scout movement that began in 1910. The obverse side of the medal features a detailed image of a scout mounted on a horse and the inscription \"The Original 'Boy Scout' Shoe For Boys\" along with the date \"July 1910\". The reverse side features several symbols of good fortune, including a swastika (which was a common good luck symbol at the time before its later appropriation), a horseshoe, a four-leaf clover, and a wishbone.
