These notes are known as "funny back" notes because of their different reverse imagery compared to other silver certificate issues. The serial number for this note is a fancy solid quad repeater, meaning that the same digit repeats four times in a row, 32743333, making this a highly sought after find! Choice Fine (F+) grade/condition, visible folds and signs of circulation, as pictured. Fr#1601 (Friedburg Number 1601). Great addition to any collection!

Silver certificates are a type of representative money issued between 1878 and 1964 in the United States as part of its circulation of paper currency. They were produced in response to silver agitation by citizens who were angered by the Fourth Coinage Act, which had effectively placed the United States on a gold standard.

The certificates were initially redeemable for their face value of silver dollar coins and later (for one year – June 24, 1967 to June 24, 1968) in raw silver bullion. Since 1968 they have been redeemable only in Federal Reserve Notes and are thus obsolete, but still valid legal tender at their face value and thus are still an accepted form of currency.

Thanks for stopping by!

1928-A Fancy Repeating Serial Number 1 Dollar Silver Certificate - 32743333 - 1928A Funny Back Cool Serial Blue Seal Note - Fr#1601

https://treasurehunterco.com/sv/products/1928-a-1-dollar-silver-certificate-low-serial-number-funny-back-note-a-b-block-1928a-one-dollar-silver-certificate-fr-1601-copy
