This listing is for the Rare 1720 George I Halfpenny 10% Off-Center Error Strike. This 1720 George I copper halfpenny is a standout piece for any error collector or enthusiast of early British milled coinage. It is part of the iconic "Dump" issue series (1717–1724), because the coins were struck on unusually thick, small planchets. The defining feature of this specific coin is its significant off-center strike error. While minor misalignments were common in the 1700s, this coin shows a clear 10% shift toward the 9 o'clock position. Conversely, on the right-hand side (behind Britannia’s shield), there is a prominent, un-struck crescent of copper where the die missed the planchet entirely. Finding 300-year-old copper with such a distinct, visible shift adds a layer of "mint-room history" that standard, centered coins lack. It serves as a physical record of the high-pressure, manual production environment of the Royal Mint under Sir Isaac Newton’s era as Master of the Mint. Unique Find!!!
