This listing is for one 1943 1 Lira Italian Banknote, as pictured. First issue by the Allied Military during Italy's occupation during WW2, slightly different design than the 1943A series, rarer issue. Varied grades, very fine to almost uncirculated, as pictured. In holographic writing on the reverse of the note is "Freedom of Speech", "Freedom of Religion", "Freedom from Want", "Freedom from Fear". Rarer issued note and excellent piece of history, making it a great addition to any collection! P#M10a (Pick Number M10a).

In 1943, the invading Allies introduced notes in denominations of L.1, L.2, L.5, L.10, L.50, L.100, L.500 and L.1,000. These were followed in 1944 by a series of Biglietti di Stato for L.1, L.2, L.5 and L.10, which circulated until replaced by coins in the late 1940s. In 1945, the Bank of Italy introduced L.5,000 and L.10,000 notes.
