Due to a post-war currency shortage, local governments produced this coin under emergency currency, or notgeld in German, to supplement what the government could not provide. These square coins were only produced for two years, 1916-1918. The front of this coin depicts the city name above and coat of arms below; the back side shows the year and denomination. An Interesting and unique find!
