This listing is for the photographed British East Africa 1930 1 Cent Coin - AU/UNC Condition.
This coin was issued for use in East Africa, British-controlled territories in East Africa. The currency was based on the East African rupee, with 100 cents = 1 rupee. By 1930, the earlier East Africa & Uganda Protectorates designation had disappeared from the coinage. The reverse simply says EAST AFRICA, reflecting the region's unified currency system administered by the East African Currency Board. The coin's unusual central hole and four curved elephant tusks are probably its most recognizable features. The hole was deliberately incorporated into the design, making the tiny denomination easy to distinguish from other coins.
