This listing is for one of the photographed 1941 Government of Hongkong British 1 Cent Banknote. Early issue, before the issued featuring British monarchs. These notes do not have prefixes in their serial numbers. Issued during World War 2. Choice of Uncirculated (UNC) or Good (G, torn in half) grade / condition.  Interesting piece of history and in excellent condition! Great addition to any collection. P#313a (Pick Number 313a).

After World War II, British control of Hong Kong resumed in 1945 following Japan's surrender. The British colonial administration re-established its authority and began rebuilding the territory, which had suffered significant damage during the Japanese occupation (1941–1945). After WWII, the Hong Kong dollar (HKD) was reinstated as the official currency, replacing the Japanese-issued currency used during the occupation. Unlike other British colonies of this period, Hongkong did not solely rely on government issuance of paper currency, instead many commercial banks also began issuing Hongkong currency during this period. Incredibly interesting history of Hongkong under colonialism during the Second World War!
