A stereoview is a cardboard card, often times curved, that has two nearly identical photographs side by side, which can be placed in a stereoscope viewer to make a 3D-like rendering of the image. They were most popular in the late Victorian era, from the 1870s to the 1920s. Each photograph is taken from the angle of each eye, creating an illusion of a single three-dimensional image when paired together in a stereoscope. Common stereoviews include famous buildings, monuments, and other travel destinations that would often be purchased by travelers as souvenirs.
