This listing is for the photographed 1945 N.D. Central Bank of China 1000 Yuan Bank Note. Issued by the Central Bank of China after the Japanese were defeated and removed from their Chinese puppet states World War 2. The obverse of this note displays a pailou style gate at the center with a beautifully ornamented border in red print. The reverse of this note has an ornamented design and border featuring the notes denomination. Beautiful design and interesting, rare historical note. Very Fine (VF) grade/condition, minimal visible folds due to age. P#296 (Pick Number 296). Notes of this issued design and date are a rarer find compared to other notes from this period, making it an excellent find and perfect addition to any collection!

The Central Bank of China was established in Guangzhou in 1924 and served as the primary manager of the Chinese economy and issuance of currency while the country was experiencing economic difficulties due to Japanese invasions and the establishment of Japanese puppet states within the country. When the Second Sino-Japanese War broke out in 1937, the Central Bank was forced to relocate its operations multiple times, moving with the Nationalist government first to Wuhan and then to Chongqing. The war significantly impacted the Chinese economy, leading to rampant inflation as the government printed large amounts of money to finance the war effort. After the war, the Central Bank faced the difficult task of re-establishing its authority and stabilizing the currency in areas previously occupied by Japan, while also dealing with the ongoing Chinese Civil War. The Central Bank of China worked closely with the other monetary authorities of China, such as the Bank of China during the war in an attempt to remain economically stable during a period of extreme political upheaval, making them an incredibly interesting institution to look at when it comes to the Asian influence of World War II.
