This listing is for the photographed 1943 Bank of Italy 50 Lire Note. Issued October 8th, 1943, making it a rarer issue of these notes. Issued during World War 2 in Italy. Beautiful designs across this note with bright colors. Reverse of this note depicts the famous Roman story of Remus and Romulus feeding from a mother wolf. The watermark of this note is Julius Ceaser. Very interesting and rarer Ancient Rome inspired Italian banknote. Excellent addition to any collection! P#66 (Pick Number 66).

In 1943, the invading Allies introduced notes in denominations of L.1, L.2, L.5, L.10, L.50, L.100, L.500 and L.1,000. These were followed in 1944 by a series of Biglietti di Stato for L.1, L.2, L.5 and L.10, which circulated until replaced by coins in the late 1940s. In 1945, the Bank of Italy introduced L.5,000 and L.10,000 notes.
