This listing is for the photographed Antique Post Civil War Era United States Navy Uniform Button made by S. Appel & Company. These buttons were issued from 1864 to 1941. Front of this button depicts an eagle facing right sitting on top of a horizontal anchor. Back of button has the company's signature "S. Appel & Co. NY" determining that this button was made between 1864 and 1941.
S. Appel & Company was established in 1864 and was responsible for manufacturing many U.S. Military uniform buttons. They ceased operations shortly after this button was no longer issued in the 1940s.
