This listing is for the photographed 1943 Government of Trinidad and Tobago 1 Dollar Note. This note was issued under British authority at the Port of Spain on January 1st, 1943. Rarer issue date for these banknotes, making it a great find! The obverse of this note depicts a harbor at the left end, and a palm tree and sailing ship at the right end. The reverse of this note shows the coat of arms at the center. Almost Uncirculated (AU) grade/condition, little to no visible folds and signs of circulation, bright and crisp note! An excellent and rare piece of Caribbean and British Colonial history! Wonderful addition to any collection! P#5c (Pick Number 5c).

Before the British Caribbean Territories, Eastern Group began issuing banknotes in all British occupied Carribean Territories in 1949, which included the issuance of banknotes in Trinidad and Tobago, the Government and other local and colonial banking authorities had control of the issuance of Trinidad and Tobago currency. Starting in 1904, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago issued $1 and $2 banknotes, followed by the addition of $5 notes in 1935, and $10 and $20 notes in 1942. The government issued these banknotes until all monetary issuance of the Eastern British Carribean was granted to the British Carribean Territories, Eastern Group in 1949.

Great addition to any collection or as a gift to a collector! Many of these notes have been lost and thus are harder to find.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
