Beautiful sterling silver ring featuring 6 small and slender oval cut turquoise stones encapsulated in sterling silver jagged edges with little sterling silver beads atop and below the stones. The ring grows outward on the shoulders of the ring and includes intricate Native rune drawings. Stamped on the inside of the ring is a large "P". Janice Paloma, a renown Zuni artisan developed the needlepoint style, which involved many tiny, pointed, and hand crafted stones in a mosaic pattern. Her work was heavily appreciated during the 1960s and 70s. Turquoise has been used for thousands of years and continues to be an important symbol across hundreds of cultures. The use of Turquoise was heavily used by Native Americans who believe it is made from their own tears seeping into the earth after they had experienced a long drought. The turquoise inlay work by Zuni artists is revered for the meticulous work and craftmanship required for the ring.
