Silver Medical Caduceus Charm - Stamped and Tested Sterling Silver - Greek Mythology - Healing Charms - Hermes

This is the photographed Silver Medical Caduceus Charm. Cool sterling silver charm depicting the Caduceus, the twin winged serpent staff carried by Hermes in Greek mythology. Stamped on the back of the charm is "sterling". This symbol has been misconstrued to be a symbol of healing, being mistaken for the Rod of Asclepius, which features a wooden stick with a serpent wrapped around it. The real reason for the symbol being used on ambulances is for the old belief in not stopping or harming a messenger. In this case, not stopping the ambulance as it has to give it's message (the patient) to the hospital.
