This listing is for the 1917 Lincoln Penny Weak Grease Strike Error. Weak strike results from two proximate causes: inadequate ram pressure or insufficient die approximation. Ram pressure is the tonnage applied to a planchet of normal thickness. Insufficient die approximation refers to the minimum approach the dies make to each other in the absence of a planchet. This specific low-pressure strike shows weak appearance on the obverse and reverse of the coin, giving it a worn and heavily circulated appearance when in realty its due to a minting error. Great Find!!!
