This listing is for the photographed Uncut Sheet of Six 1919 Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic (RSFSR) 1000 Rubles Notes. These notes are commonly known as "Babylonian" notes, due to their inclusion of a translation of the phrase "Workers of the World, Unite!" in seven different languages (Russian, English, German, French, Italian, Chinese, and Arabic). Issued by Soviet Russia shortly after the Bolsheviks overthrew the Czar in 1918. These notes are from the series AЖ-069 and have "1000" repeated across the sheet as its watermark. Uncirculated (UNC) grade/condition, never issued uncut sheet, only folded down the center. Beautiful design and an amazing piece of history, excellent addition to any collection! These notes are referred to by collectors as "Babylonian" notes because of the inclusion of seven different languages printed on them. The phrase "Workers of the World, Unite!" is printed in each of these languages on this note, a phrase which has ties to the Communist Manifesto by Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx, a work which was fundamental for the Soviet party, as the last line of the Manifesto is "Working men of all countries, unite!", very similar to the phrase used by the Soviets. The use of multi-language translations of this phrase on this note is reminiscent of the Soviet coat of arms, which famously included the phrase printed in all of the languages used within the Soviet Union (by the end of the Soviet Union there were 15 languages included on the coat of arms).
