This listing is for the Historic Mexico 1/4 Real Silver Coin Holed Republic Period Cuartilla No Date. 1/4 Real the smallest silver denomination minted by the Republic of Mexico. It features the left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap. Even though it is heavily smoothed down from years of wear, the outline of the bust remains recognizable.  The date is completely worn away, but the style of this specific Liberty bust corresponds to federal issues struck between the 1840s and 1860s. It has a post-mint holed piercing at the top, a common practice at the time so that small change could be strung on a cord or worn as jewelry. Great Find!!!
