This listing is for the Antique 1901 Boston Evacuation Day 125th Anniversary Copper Medal HK-13.  The Washington Before Boston Medal holds foundational historic significance as the very first medal commissioned by the Continental Congress on March 25, 1776. Originally struck in gold, it represents the birth of the Congressional Gold Medal, which remains one of the highest civilian awards in the United States. It was created to celebrate General George Washington’s first major strategic victory of the Revolutionary War, which successfully forced British troops to evacuate Boston. This piece also initiated the Comitia Americana (American Congress) series, a collection of medals designed to document the defining military triumphs of the young nation. Interesting Find!!!
