This listing is for the photographed Vintage 10K Gold Stamped American Nurses Association ANA Lamp Enamel Lapel Pin. The back of this pin is stamped "LGB 10K", indicating that it is made of 10 karat gold. The circular gold pin features a portion of black enamel with the letters "ANA", which stand for American Nurses Association, as well as a nurse's lantern featured on the left side. Stunning vintage 10K gold brooch with an interesting history! Great addition to any collection!

The American Nurses Association was founded in New York City in 1896, originally named Nurses' Associated Alumnae of the United States and Canada, before shortening the name to Nurses' Associated Alumnae in 1901. The primary goals of the organization were to create registers of qualified nurses in each state, as well as advocate for the proper education of nurses throughout the United States. Soon nearly all states in the U.S. had an established ANA that helped successfully rally to ensure the registration of qualified nurses within that state, with these qualified nurses being granted the title "Registered Nurse" (RN). Throughout its history, the American Nurses Association has continued to advocate for the rights and conditions of nurses within the country, as well as fought for increased access to nursing education among Americans.
