This listing is for the photographed Law of 1901 (1945) Martinique 5 Francs French African Colony Bank Note. Issued in 1945 by the Bank of Martinique (Banque de la Martinique) under the Law of 1901 as explained on the reverse of the note. No issue date is printed on this note, but the issue year can be identified by the signature of the Director used on the note, which in the case of this note was R. Arnaud, who was the director of the bank in 1945. The obverse of this note shows a border around the notes text that includes plants, weapons, and anchors, as well as the profile portraits of a native African man and woman on the left and right ends of the note. The obverse of this note is printed in violet, differentiating the note from the similar red printed obverse issue. The reverse of this note also includes an ornamented border, which includes many native plants and birds to Martinique, as well as the profile portrait of a woman at the notes center. Very Fine (VF) grade/condition, some signs of circulation, as pictured. This rare note has a stunning design and is in excellent condition, making it a must have for any collection! P#6 (Pick Number 6).
