This listing is for the 14K Yellow Gold Small Statue of Liberty Charm. Beautiful 14 Karat gold charm depicting the statue of liberty in all it's glory and stamped on the bottom with "14K". The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States to celebrate the countries' friendship and the ideals of liberty and democracy after the American Revolution. It was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, while the internal iron framework was engineered by Gustave Eiffel, who later designed the Eiffel Tower. Construction of the statue was completed in France in 1884. It was then disassembled into more than 300 pieces, shipped across the Atlantic, and reassembled on Liberty Island. The statue was officially dedicated on October 28, 1886, by Grover Cleveland. The statue stands about 305 feet (93 meters) from the ground to the tip of the torch. The copper exterior has turned green over time because of natural oxidation, forming a protective patina.
