Seen on the obverse of the coin is a Cuban flag flying beside a lighthouse, the dates 1902 and 1952 and is inscribed "REPUBLICA DE CUBA". The reverse shows the famous Tree of Liberty (Árbol de la Libertad) with a star above the tree and is inscribed "CINCUENTA AÑOS DE LIBERTAD Y PROGRESO" meaning "Fifty Years of Liberty and Progress".
