This listing is for the photographed 1945 Japanese 50 Sen bank note. Issued by the Allied Military towards the end of WWII. Note is an "A Yen", differentiating them from other similarly issued notes. Better condition for circulated notes of this date and type. P#64 (Pick Number 64).

Allied Military Currency was issued in newly occupied lands of the Allies during WWII in order to gain monetary control. The Allies issued both "A Yen" and "B Yen" in Japan and surrounding areas as a part of this effort. "A Yen" was restricted for military use only, whereas "B Yen" was used by local civilians. "A Yen" was only circulated from 1945-1948, but "B Yen" was circulated until 1958 when the currency was replaced with the U.S. dollar.

These notes provide fascinating insight into the economic dealings of world powers in World War II, and being of rarer find, are a must have for any collection!
