This listing is for the photographed 1956 British Caribbean Territories, Eastern Group 5 Dollar Note. This note was issued under the British government on January 3rd, 1956. This notes prefix is D2, making it a rare issue of this note. A Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is displayed on the right end of the note, map of the Caribbean displayed on the left end. The reverse of the note displays a design for each of the islands of the British Caribbean, including the Leeward Islands, Barbados, and British Guiana. Watermark of the Queens profile at the lower center of the note, differing it from other similar issues. Note is in excellent condition, with minimal wear and discoloration with age. An excellent and rare piece of Caribbean and British Colonial history! Wonderful addition to any collection! P#9b (Pick Number 9b).

In 1951, after issues with privately issued money in the British Caribbean Territories, the Board of Commissioners of Currency, The British Carribean Territories (Eastern Group) became the sole issuing authority on both coins and paper notes in the British Caribbean Territories. Denominations of the note included 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 100 dollars. Throughout their issuance they printed notes with portraits of both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. By 1962 both British Guiana and Trinidad & Tobago withdrew from the British Caribbean Currency Board, which ultimately led to the board's disbandment and its replacement with the East Carribean Monetary Authority in 1965.

Great addition to any collection or as a gift to a collector! Many of these notes have been lost and thus are harder to find.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
