1921 Republica de Costa Rica 2 Colones Silver Note - RARE Note - Reverse Overprint - 1921 Costa Rican Two Colones Silver Banknote - P#152

This listing is for the photographed 1921 Republica de Costa Rica 2 Colones Silver Banknote. This note was issued by the Republic of Costa Rica on March 2nd, 1921. Reverse has an overprint saying the note is no longer considered a silver certificate, which would be redeemable in silver itself, but rather is now a silver banknote, meaning that the banknote itself is to be used as currency rather than redeemed in silver. This was in accordance with Law No. 3 of June 23rd, 1917. The obverse of this note displays a profile bust portrait of Christopher Colombus on the left end, and the Costa Rica coat of arms on the right. Reverse depicts a portrait of a woman at the center below the black text overprint. Very Fine (VF) grade/condition, visible folds and signs of wear. These notes are very rare, so notes in circulated condition such as this one are still extremely valuable. Interesting and rare piece of history, a must have for any collection!
