This listing is for the San Francisco Cable Car Centennial Medal, which was created to celebrate the cable car's 100th anniversary. Silver composition. The obverse of this coin depicts a cable car with passengers traveling uphill in front of street buildings and mechanical workers shown below the cable car. The reverse is the "Seal of the City and County of San Francisco," encircling outside of a medal. The center is a phoenix rising from flames above a shield depicting a paddle boat. The shield is on the ground behind a pole and a ship anchor. Shield is flanked by a miner with a shovel and a sailor with a sextant. The designer for this medallion is Thomas R. McClure.
