US Army Model 1902 Infantry Officer's Saber - Vintage United States Army 1900s Officer Sword

This listing is for the US Army Model 1902 Infantry Officer's Saber. In the late 19th century, officers complained about the excessive weight of older combat swords during the Civil War and Indian Wars. The M1902 was designed by Henry V. Allien & Company to be a lightweight, functional "cut-and-thrust" weapon. It features a distinctive curved, multi-branched D-guard made of nickel-plated steel or brass. The handle is distinctively contoured with deep ergonomic finger grooves.  The blade is relatively thin and features a very gentle "slashing" curve with a fine point intended for thrusting. The sword features elaborate, decorative historical etchings along the sides depicting scrollwork, the letters "US", and the American eagle. Great Find!!!
