This listing is for the photographed 1867 Denmark 1 Rigsmont Skilling. 

The skilling was one of the smaller denominations in Denmark's old monetary system. The monetary system had been reorganized in 1854, with the rigsdaler rigsmønt as the principal unit. Under this system: 96 skilling = 1 rigsdaler. The 1-skilling coin was therefore a very small unit intended for everyday transactions. The 1867 issue appeared during the reign of Christian IX, who became king in 1863. Christian IX eventually became known as the "Father-in-Law of Europe" because several of his children married into other European royal families. The coin's design was made by Frederik Christopher Krohn, a prominent Danish engraver.
