This listing is for the photographed 1945 Japanese Allied Military 1 Yen Banknote. Issued by the Allies in occupied territories of Japan during World War II. Series 100. The serial number of this note has the prefix-suffix "A-A" differentiating it from other similar issues. Extremely Fine (XF) grade/condition, minimal visible folds and signs of wear for its age. Great addition to any collection, interesting piece of history from WW2! P#67a (Pick Number 67a).
Allied Military Currency was issued in newly occupied lands of the Allies during WWII in order to gain monetary control. The Allies issued both "A Yen" and "B Yen" in Japan and surrounding areas as a part of this effort. "A Yen" was restricted for military use only, whereas "B Yen" was used by local civilians. "A Yen" was only circulated from 1945-1948, but "B Yen" was circulated until 1958 when the currency was replaced with the U.S. dollar.
