This listing is for your choice of photographed Lots of 10 World War I Era Austria Heller Notgeld emergency banknotes. All notes were issued in the years during and shortly after World War I when Austria experienced a time of extreme inflation. They were printed and issued by many different municipalities across the country after WWI. Most Austrian localities issued these typed of notes, resulting in many varied and specific Austrian "notgeld" from this time. All notes are in Uncirculated (UNC) or Almost Uncirculated (AU) grade/condition, crisp high grades! Amazing find, excellent piece of history! Perfect addition to any collection!

Emergency money printed in Germany and Austria immediately after WWI is widely known as "notgeld". The two countries experienced extreme periods of inflation and economic turmoil after their loss in WWI, resulting in municipalities, towns, and state-owned firms to issue their own emergency currencies. The notgeld would be issued with an expiration date, after which they would become invalid. These historically important souvenirs from the interwar periods are an interesting find, representing WWI history and Austria's economic downfall immediately after.
