This scrip note would have been backed by the Northfield Bank in Northfield, Vermont, as identified by the banks name printed at the center of the note. Dated October 10th, 1862. Northfield Bank scrip notes signed by A. B. Houston are not specifically cataloged in references on Vermont scrip notes, making these notes rare finds!
