This listing is for the photographed 1939 Hungarian Reclaimed Territories 5 Pengo Banknote. Issued during World War 2 by the National Bank of Hungary on October 25, 1939. The obverse of this note depicts a portrait of Julianna Csonka, a Paloc woman from the village of Beny. The reverse of this note shows a statue of Sebestyen Tinodi Lantos at the center. Very Good / Fine (VG/F) grade/condition, visible folds and chips in the print on the reverse of the note, as pictured. Excellent piece of history, great addition to any collection! P#106 (Pick Number 106).

During World War II, Hungary fought alongside the Axis powers, relying on many axis powers for economic stability after the great depression. When Hungary began peace negotiations with both the United States and the United Kingdom in 1943, Germany invaded and occupied the nation. By the end of the war German and Hungarian axis forces were defeated by the Allies.

Thanks for stopping by!
