*Busto Gorro:
El concepto de cabeza cubierta de la Libertad fue diseñado por John Reich. Nacido en Furth, Baviera, en 1768, más tarde emigró a Filadelfia en 1800. En 1801, Thomas Jefferson recomendó que Reich fuera contratado como grabador. Aunque no pudo obtener un puesto de grabador a tiempo completo, Reich fue contratado para otras tareas.
En 1807, el grabador jefe Robert Scot contrató a Reich como grabador asistente. Robert M. Patterson, el director de la Casa de la Moneda, encargó entonces a Reich el rediseño de la mayoría de las monedas que estaban en circulación. Sustituyó el diseño de Busto Drapeado de Scot por su propio diseño, el Busto Gorro.
Demostró ser un diseño popular y duró de 1807 a 1839 en el medio dólar, de 1815 a 1838 en el cuarto de dólar, de 1809 a 1837 en la moneda de diez centavos y de 1829 a 1837 en la moneda de cinco centavos. Las cuatro monedas fueron acuñadas en 89,2% de plata y 10,8% de cobre.
También hubo un diseño de oro creado por el grabador Robert Scot en 1795, también llamado Busto Gorro, aunque es más popularmente conocido como la "Cabeza de Turbante" debido a su apariencia inusual y exótica. El diseño del Turbante se usó en el Quarter Eagle, Half Eagle y Eagle de oro de 1795 a 1834. En el Quarter y Half Eagles, el diseño del Turbante fue reemplazado por el diseño regular de Busto Gorro en 1808 y 1807, respectivamente, mientras que el Eagle, que había estado fuera de producción desde 1804, adoptó el diseño de "Coronet" Liberty Head en 1838.
El anverso de la moneda y medalla Liberty First Spouse de Andrew Jackson de 2008 presenta el diseño de Busto Gorro.
