Historia del Dólar Morgan:
Los Dólares de Plata Morgan se acuñaron desde 1878 hasta 1904, y luego nuevamente en 1921. El anverso muestra un retrato de perfil que representa a la Libertad, modelado por Anna Willess Williams, mientras que el reverso muestra un águila con las alas extendidas. La marca de ceca, si está presente, aparece en el reverso encima de la "o" de "Dollar".
En 1898, el Congreso aprobó un proyecto de ley que exigía que todo el lingote restante comprado bajo la Ley de Compra de Plata de Sherman fuera acuñado en dólares de plata. Cuando esas reservas de plata se agotaron en 1904, la Casa de la Moneda dejó de acuñar el dólar Morgan. La Ley Pittman, aprobada en 1918, autorizó la fundición y recuñación de millones de dólares de plata. De conformidad con la ley, la acuñación de dólares Morgan se reanudó por un año en 1921. El diseño fue reemplazado por el dólar Peace más tarde ese mismo año.
