La acuñación de Kalākaua es un conjunto de monedas de plata del Reino de Hawái fechadas en 1883, autorizadas para aumentar el orgullo hawaiano al darle al reino su propio dinero. Fueron diseñadas por Charles E. Barber, Grabador Jefe de la Oficina de la Moneda de los Estados Unidos, y fueron acuñadas en la Casa de la Moneda de San Francisco. Las monedas emitidas son una moneda de diez centavos (dime), un cuarto de dólar, medio dólar y un dólar.
No se había tomado ninguna medida inmediata después de la ley de 1880 que autorizaba las monedas, pero el rey Kalākaua estaba interesado y los funcionarios del gobierno vieron una manera de salir de un aprieto financiero obteniendo monedas emitidas a cambio de bonos del gobierno. El empresario Claus Spreckels estaba dispuesto a hacer los arreglos con los Estados Unidos a cambio de ganancias de la producción de monedas, y contrató a la Casa de la Moneda de los Estados Unidos para acuñar monedas por valor de $1,000,000. Las monedas se acuñaron en San Francisco en 1883 y 1884, aunque todas llevan la fecha anterior.
Las monedas tuvieron una recepción hostil por parte de la comunidad empresarial de Honolulu, que temía la inflación de la moneda en un momento de recesión. Después de maniobras legales, el gobierno acordó usar más de la mitad de la acuñación como respaldo para el papel moneda, lo que continuó hasta que comenzaron mejores tiempos económicos en 1885. Después de eso, las monedas fueron aceptadas con más entusiasmo en circulación. Permanecieron en el flujo del comercio en las islas hasta que fueron retiradas en 1903, después de que Hawái se convirtiera en un territorio de los Estados Unidos.
