Auténtica moneda de oro de 2 1/2 dólares Indian Head de 1908 (Quarter Eagle de 1908). Esta es una moneda en bruto, lo que significa que no ha sido "encapsulada" por una compañía como PCGS o NGC. Contamos con un equipo de clasificación interno y hemos clasificado la moneda como AU50. Presenta rastros de desgaste en la ceja de la Dama de la Libertad, en el cabello detrás de la oreja y en las alas del águila en el reverso. Gran brillo de acuñación (más del 25%). Excelente moneda para una colección.
Las piezas de oro Indian Head o las monedas de oro Pratt-Bigelow fueron dos series de monedas separadas, idénticas en diseño, acuñadas por la Casa de la Moneda de los Estados Unidos: una pieza de dos dólares y medio, o quarter eagle, y una moneda de cinco dólares, o half eagle. El quarter eagle se acuñó de 1908 a 1915 y de 1925 a 1929. El half eagle se acuñó de 1908 a 1916 y en 1929. Las piezas siguen siendo las únicas monedas de EE. UU. en circulación con diseños empotrados. Estas monedas fueron las últimas de sus denominaciones en acuñarse para la circulación, poniendo fin a series que comenzaron en la década de 1790.
El presidente Theodore Roosevelt, a partir de 1904, abogó vigorosamente por nuevos diseños para las monedas de los Estados Unidos, e hizo que la Casa de la Moneda contratara a su amigo, el escultor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, para diseñar cinco monedas (las cuatro piezas de oro y el centavo) que podían cambiarse sin autorización del Congreso. Antes de su muerte en agosto de 1907, Saint-Gaudens completó los diseños para el eagle (pieza de $10) y el double eagle, aunque ambos requirieron trabajo posterior para hacerlos totalmente adecuados para la acuñación.
