1928-D 2 Dollar Error Note, Fancy Serial Number, Gas Pump Error - 18019011 - 1928D Two Dollar Red Seal US Note - Fr. 1505
This listing is for the photographed 1928-D Red Seal 2 Dollar Legal Tender Note with a Gas Pump Error and Fancy Serial Number. This note has a gas pump type error, meaning that one of the digits in the serial number is not in line with the rest of the digits, which happens because of a jam in the printing mechanism. On this note the suffix letter "A" on both of the serial numbers on the note are slightly raised above the rest of the digits. Along with this error this note also has a fancy duo repeater serial number, 18019011, making this a highly sought after note. Fine (F) grade/condition, some visible folds and signs of circulation. Must have for any collection! Fr#1505 (Friedburg Number 1505).
The United States two-dollar bill ($2) is a denomination of United States currency. A portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States (1801–1809), is featured on the obverse of the note. The reverse features an engraving of the residence of Jefferson, Monticello.
Throughout the $2 bill's pre-1929 life as a large-sized note, it was issued as a United States Note, National Bank Note, silver certificate, Treasury or "Coin" Note and Federal Reserve Bank Note. When U.S. currency was changed to its current size, the $2 bill was issued only as a United States Note. Production continued until 1966, when United States Notes were phased out and the $2 denomination discontinued until 1976 when it was reissued as a Federal Reserve Note with a new reverse design.
