This listing is for the photographed 1942 Japan Occupied Philippines Full Denomination Set of 6 Banknotes. The set includes 5-, 10-, and 50-centavos notes, as well as 1-, 5-, and 10-peso notes from the first issue of occupied Philippines banknotes in 1942. Notes were all issued with 2 block letters printed on the obverse, rather than the fractional format of block letters seen on similar notes. All of the notes are in circulated condition. During World War II in the Philippines, the occupying Japanese government issued a fiat currency in several denominations; this is known as the Japanese government-issued Philippine peso. The Japanese government outlawed possession of guerrilla currency, and declared a monopoly on the issuance of money, so that anyone found to possess guerrilla notes could be arrested or even executed.
