El Banco de México, conocido como "Banco de México" (Banxico), fue establecido el 1 de septiembre de 1925, después de la Revolución Mexicana. Este período revolucionario destacó la necesidad de una institución central para estabilizar y apoyar el sistema financiero de México. En ese momento, varios bancos emitían moneda, lo que provocó confusión, inflación y falta de confianza en la moneda nacional. La creación de Banxico centralizó la emisión de billetes, con el objetivo de estabilizar la economía y reforzar la confianza pública.
Banxico emitió sus primeros billetes oficiales en 1925. Estos billetes reflejaban la riqueza y la historia de la nación, y los diseños se actualizaban regularmente para enfatizar tanto los logros modernos como la cultura tradicional mexicana. La primera serie de billetes presentaba a líderes mexicanos prominentes y símbolos de orgullo nacional.
