Un billete de reemplazo, comúnmente conocido como billete de estrella, es un billete que se imprime para reemplazar uno defectuoso y se utiliza como mecanismo de control para que los gobiernos o las autoridades monetarias conozcan el número exacto de billetes que se imprimen. 1963: Tanto el billete de 5 dólares de los Estados Unidos como el billete de la Reserva Federal fueron revisados con el lema IN GOD WE TRUST añadido al reverso y WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND eliminado del anverso. Además, la obligación en el billete de la Reserva Federal se acortó a su redacción actual, THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE.
