This listing is for the photographed Vintage Sterling Silver Stamped American Legion Auxiliary Sword Pin. Enamel American Legion Auxiliary emblem placed at the center of this sterling silver sword shaped brooch with a beautiful ruby red stone on the handle. The reverse of the sword part of the brooch is stamped "STERLING" identifying that the pin is made of sterling silver. Amazing unique find! Other military related organizations have been known to produce sword pins very similar to this, but those with the American Legion Auxiliary logo are not often found online! 

The American Legion was founded in 1919 by a group of 20 World War I soldiers to boost troop morale, believing that giving community to veterans coming home from foreign service would aid in their transition back to home life. Many women's organizations wanted to be affiliated with the American Legion, but the group decided to establish their own separate group of primarily women who had relations to veterans or service members, known as the American Legion Auxiliary. Today the Auxiliary is composed of family members and others closely related to service members who seek to aid and benefit veterans and those serving in the American military.
