This listing is for the photographed Antique Pope John XXIII St Paul & Peter Pendant. Antique pendant featuring pope Johannes/John XXIII on the front. On the back, the pendant features both St Peter and Paul, with Peter holding the keys to heaven, and Paul with a hand on his "Sword of the spirit" whom he is frequently shown with. Pope John XXIII was born in 1885 and he died in 1963, 5 years after becoming Pope in 1958. His successor would canonize him as a Saint in 1965, becoming the patron saint of Christian unity. He was the creator of the Second Vatican Council, which was used to modernize the Catholic Church. 38 years after his death he was put on display in a glass case in 2001 in St. Peter's Basilica.
